General Manager & Vice President
We are looking for a General Manager/VP to help lead and grow our Texas presence. This is an opportunity for a leader with an entrepreneurial spirit to help us engage with top organizations involved in the pursuit of innovation, technology and science. The anchor accounts for this office include an enterprise software company and a very large semiconductor technology client. The role will focus on leadership of the office, Executive contributions to key account and future business development. New business to us is not just about bringing in new business – it’s about passion! You will help us achieve this goal in one of our most spirited, entrepreneurial and exciting offices within Waggener Edstrom Worldwide. This position will report in to Michelle Herman, SVP and Technology Practice Leader/GM, Bay Area. A GM/VP’s scope of responsibility is broad, and they are expected to provide strategic leadership for the agency, the business and the PR industry, as well as take into consideration the global economy as it affects the business of Waggener Edstrom. Significant results and impact across the agency are expected from the role.
Responsibilities:
? The GM’s first area of focus is the agency itself. The GM is focused on the business of Waggener Edstrom, including the delivery of new business to the agency (50%) and the successful marketing of the agency into new revenue streams. The agency leadership expected includes a clear, active modeling of agency values and leadership standards, with the end results being development and retention of talent, customer delight and overall profitability.
Additional areas of focus include:
? The Client. Client leadership includes applying the talents of the team to the strategic goals and objectives of the client. The VP is responsible for client management and satisfaction, and is the senior executive PR counsel for the client. A VP will own one to two key influentials.
? Our Talent. Management, mentorship and strong focus on career development is a hallmark of Waggener Edstrom and a critical component of this position.
? The PR industry. Assisting the agency to attain recognition in the industry, with special emphasis on Texas markets and to stay ahead of the competition.
? The global economy of the business – the overall health of the business as it relates to revenue streams, expenses and ultimately the bottom line. Business acumen and modeling fiscal responsibility are necessary competencies.

Qualifications:
? High potential, high performing VP/GM
? Must have a proven track record for developing new business ? 12+ years experience in PR, preferably in an agency and/or within the high tech industry providing public relations consulting service to high tech clients
? 8+ years people management (individual and team), including experience developing an account team
? Minimum of 8 years with PR management, crisis management and execution experience, including developing plans, client management, launch strategies, product positioning, pitching stories to the media, negotiation, budget responsibility, messaging and creative tactical ideas
? Must have strong digital fluency skills
? Established strong relationships with business, technology trade and consumer media, market analysts and proactively place stories
? Must be a high band-width communicator, with excellent collaboration abilities • Must anticipate industry and client trends and interpret them for WE account teams in such a way as to ensure WE services to client are both leading edge and forward thinking.
?Energy Technology including Smartgrid and Energy Storage experience a plus.
? Drive budget and resource forecasting
? In depth knowledge of PR agency business and financial model
? International experience
